The dRéaumur life of Ed Park
The term "Réaumur" (a temperature scale) appeared in my dream—it's mentioned on the first page of The Real Life of Sebastian Knight, without the accent.
I looked it up on Wikipedia and was rewarded with an excellent chart.
Some conversions—
From Réaumur to Fahrenheit:
[°F] = [°Ré] × 9⁄4 + 32
And vice versa:
[°Ré] = ([°F] − 32) × 4⁄9

Funny! I love Reaumur - do not know how to do accents in blog comments - I have some things about temperature scales in The Explosionist - but R. also features very briefly in the breeding book, due to his work on polydactyly and chickens...
