My wife was talking to someone recently who was trying to tell her how good Korean soap operas are. The woman didn't have a lot of English, so she described them thus: "Nice. . . . Sad. . . . Nice. . . . No bed."
From what little I know of the genre, that doesn't sound like too bad a description.
The soap opera to get — in a very good English translation — is called Dae Jang Geum. More on this later! I go around calling it Harry Potter meets Iron Chef.
